Q: Is powder coating really better than paint?
A: Take a look at the image below. On the left is how powder coating holds up to a hammer, and on the right is how paint holds up. There’s no comparison. When it comes to coverage, paint thickness is usually between .25 and .50 millimeters. Powder coating thickness is between 2 and 6 millimeters. And we use a very expensive measuring device to test this.
Spray paint is incredibly harmful to the environment, releasing perfluorocarbons or PFCs into the atmosphere. Whereas powder coating is produces no harmful toxins. Not to mention all the excess powder is captured and safely disposed of. You decide if powder coating is really better than paint.
